Dog Is Human Review: Real Science, Real Results

Image
Dog Is Human Review The pet world is full of promises. Every brand says their supplements are game changing, but half the time you can’t even tell what’s in them. The truth is most of the products out there aren’t regulated at all. That’s why Dog Is Human stood out to me. From the moment I started reading about them, they felt like a company built on actual science. Their motto says it best: Health first. Everything second. Why I Tried Dog Is Human They believe dogs deserve the same quality we expect for ourselves. Every product is made with human grade ingredients. No cheap fillers. No artificial flavors. No sketchy preservatives. I’m 100 percent that dog parent who tastes her dog’s kibble and treats, so this hit home for me. I want to know what I’m giving Bourbon Bear, and I want it to be real food with real benefits. Each formula only includes ingredients that serve a purpose. Every batch is tested by third party labs, and you can actually look up the results online. That kind of t...

A review on: Nulo's Freestyle Grain-Free Salmon & Turkey Recipe With Strawberries Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food

Image
Fur friends, do your fur kids have a better-balanced diet than you do? Do they visit the groomers more times in a year than you're allowed to treat yourself to a haircut and color? Do you find yourself chewing on a chalky Flinstone vitamin while they have a plethora of powder, supplements, oils, and pills to add vitality, nutrition and health benefits to their little bodies and huge hearts? Or perhaps it's just me... Coming at you this month is just about the fanciest (and priciest) food I do believe Miss Bebe and Jolie have ever had their pawsitively prissy palettes exposed to. Imagine a grain free salmon and turkey blend with strawberries, that's freeze-dried and raw? This item describes itself as raw and prey-inspired nutrition .The Nulo Freestyle Grain-Free Salmon & Turkey Recipe With Strawberries Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food is at first glance packed with a whopping containing 83% salmon and turkey, organs and bone plus dried egg yolks, broccoli a...

Our pawsome pal and guest star, Layla reviews VetriScience Perio Plus Everyday Health Dental Stix Dog Treats

Image
Hello fur friends! Coming to you this month is another product by a newly discovered brand for us. That brand is called VetriScience. A couple of months ago, we ordered the powder  which I was super skeptical of. You see when you have two senior dogs, who are missing several teeth, and your bank account is missing several thousands of dollars due to the anesthesia teeth cleaning, you could understand why. I had a very positive experience with the powder and a little really has proven to go a long way. My dogs' breath smells a little less foul and the plaque and decay have significantly decreased. We still have about 3/4 of the product left so I'm excited to see the results once we finish the product. Since I had such a good experience with the powder I was excited to see that Chewy offered up the VetriScience Perio Plus Everyday Health Dental Stix Dog Treats for review. These treats  were unfortunately too big for my little Yorkies, but luckily we have a sp...

Halo Wild Salmon & Venison, fancy eats for your petite pup

Image
I'm always amazed to see dog food companies offer up fish options. It's not only for cats you know? Fish in a dogs diet provides many benefits including being extremely high in protein and omega-3s. For the most part, fish is high in protein but a dog cannot get all of their nutritional needs through fish alone, which I was delighted when I saw that Halo came out with a blend of Salmon and Venison wet dog food. Salmon has many benefits in a dogs diet. It is a fatty fish which is also a good source of omega- 3 fatty acids. These fats support the immune system and can be beneficial for skin and coat health. There has also been some indication that they may benefit dogs with allergies.  While venison, or deer meat, has less protein than beef, it also contains less fat and cholesterol, making it an increasingly popular meat source in commercial dog foods.  Venison is a good source of B vitamins and minerals such as zinc, phosphorous, and iron. It helps dogs maintain...

Gimme some fresh kisses!

If you've been following us for a while you know we love the Merrick brand. Six years ago we were introduced to their Power to the Paw line of yummy and healthier food options. Now, back then not too many people were really focused on quality and transparent food items for their fur kids. You can find the review of this pawsome company here . Coming at you this month from Merrick is their Fresh Kisses Double-Brush Coconut Oil & Botanicals Extra Small Grain-Free Dental Dog Treats. Now I have been personally using coconut oil for years to do oil pulling, removing makeup and cooking with it. It really is a super product. I also used to use coconut oil on Bebe and Jolie's paws in the cold winters in NJ to prevent them from cracking. I was delighted to see that this dog treat came in a plethora of different sizes as well as contained coconut oils and botanicals!I obviously picked up the extra small size for my extra small dogs, and I was not disappointed. Even though my do...

Mental and Physical Treats for your Pup

Hello, fur fam! This month (and several times during each month) I stock up on treats for my girls, Bebe and Jolie. I stock up on a different type of treat every month for their chewing, trick performing, and bad breath occurrences. However, one treat that I keep on reaching for time and time again is the  Blue Buffalo Blue Bits Tender Beef Recipe Soft-Moist Training Dog Treats . There are a few reasons for this: They are small enough to fit in my small dog's mouth. They fit perfectly in my  Furbo  dog camera! They are heart-shaped. Check out my post about  Bebe and Jolie's most favorite food  you'll understand the fascination. They are chewy and moist, perfect for any dog and especially toothless senior ones like mine! They are good for your pup! Formulated with omega-3 and 6 fatty acids for skin and coat health. No artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. Made in the USA with zero chicken or poultry by-product meals, wheat, soy,...

Doggie Dental Discussion

The "it's time for a dental cleaning" look. If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I post a lot about dental decay, dog gingivitis, and oral health. The reason for that is because I am the proud fur mom to two senior Yorkies. Yorkies are notorious for being many things such as intelligent, hypo-allergenic, and downright adorable, but they are also known as one of the top ten breeds that is prone to dental disease. Periodontitis disease and gingivitis is a very serious thing that can cause serious issues for your pup, including death. To be fair, Yorkies are genetically predisposed to the disease, and so don't worry if you cannot keep up with the decay. It's genetic and needs to be addressed as it comes. I've religiously had my dogs professionally cleaned by the vet with anesthesia 2x a year along with giving them dental bones, and brushing their teeth every 5 days. It's a constant battle but I've gathered some stories ...

Bebe and Jolie's Favorite Food EVER!

Image
Hello, fur fam! So back in August, I shared a photo on our Instagram showing my tiny teacup Yorkie Jolie, who is mostly toothless now, getting into her favorite food. That so mentioned food has been a godsend to us! For starters, Yorkies are notorious for being fussy eaters. If you own one, well you already know. But if you don't, Yorkies will sooner starve than eat kibble that isn't tasty. If you'd like to laugh you can revert to an embarrassing blog post I posted yesterday about me trying my dogs treats. Yes, you read that right, a human taste testing the treats. Luckily, I didn't have to taste test this kibble, but I assure you it has to taste good to get a tiny dog to ferociously make her way into the bag as pictured here: Cute right? I'd like to tell you all that the packaging of this brand of dog food is originally what drew me to it, and how could it not? My dogs practically look like they modeled for the bag. However, I have been a big fan of the S...

Grandma Lucy's Organic Pumpkin Oven Baked Dog Treats

Image
Have you ever inspected what ingredients are in your pets food and treats? Do you make sure that you know what all the ingredients are and that you can pronounce them? Well, that is definitely something that I do as a pet owner. I've even been one to *try* the treats sometimes, because, I'm THAT crazy dog mom. I must be doing something right because I have one dog who is about 45 days shy of turning 16 years old! It must be all those years of reading the labels right? This month, Chewy featured an interesting product. At first glance, it looks like Teddy Grahams for dogs, really cute ones too. However, upon second glance this dog crazed momma read the ingredient list: Organic Wheat Flour, Organic Dehydrated Cane Juice, Organic Sunflower and/or Organic Canola Oil and/or Organic Palm Oil, Organic Cane Juice Syrup, Organic Pumpkin Powder, Organic Mace, Organic Cinnamon, Soy Lecithin. Wow, I think to myself as I hold the bag of treats and a cup of black coffee in the oth...

Zignature Kangaroo Grain-Free Dry Dog Food Review

Image
Woof bark fam! Last month we received a product to review that Bebe and Jolie did not enjoy. They are notoriously fussy Yorkies and very selective when it comes to kibble. We've tried Zignature  brands before but when given the chance to try Kangaroo, we hopped right to it. Well, they weren't a fan. My coworker Daniel has a dog named Layla, she is 5 years old and also notoriously picky when it comes to kibble. I offered Daniel the food as I hate to waste food, dog and human alike. Well as you can see from the pictures it was a win! Layla is a 50% German Shepherd, 50% Siberian husky, with sprinkles of sloth in between. She lives in sunny Arizona and is also "the laziest & prettiest dog in the world" according to her furdaddy! This kibble is grain free and made from real, Kangaroo from Australia, wholesome peas, chickpeas, and flaxseed. This meat-first recipe offers pups the protein they need to thrive, while Zignature’s limited ingredient recipe thro...

Product Review: Nutramax Cosequin Maximum Strength (DS) Plus MSM Soft Chews Joint Health Dog Supplement

Image
As a fur mom of two senior Yorkies, it is no surprise that this breed comes with joint problems later on in their lives. Yorkies are part of the terrier family, and are extremely active. My oldest dog is 15 years old and still flings herself from the bar stool onto the couch. I nickname her my giddy gazelle. Both of my dogs have fluxating patellas which is pretty common in this breed and to prevent arthritis and swelling I have been supplementing them with glucosamine for the past few years and it's worked really well.  Glucosamine is more commonly known as Cosequin® and its main use it to help promote mobility and joint function in dogs and cats. Arthritis refers to inflammation or swelling in a joint and what these supplements do is help provide the necessary nutrients for cartilage repair and function.  These treats were a win in the Prisky Paws household. I gave my 10lb Yorkie one full chew and my 5lb Yorkie 1/2 of one chew as per the weigh recommendations on the...
